The 2018 Bournemouth and Poole Tourism Awards (BAPTAs) semi-finalists have been revealed at a special invitation-only event at Bournemouth and Poole College on 30th January.

The BAPTAs in association with Berendsen (previously known as the Bournemouth Tourism Awards), have been more competitive than ever with tourism businesses entering from across the whole of the BH post code area.

Entrants were taken through a vigorous judging process which includes application assessments, a judging panel, visits and mystery shopping. The four voting categories were decided by public vote. All of the evidence has been verified by an independent judging panel.

There are 19 categories this year, which include two new categories: The ‘New Business of the Year Award’ sponsored by SWRAC (South West Regional Assessment Centre) and the ‘Self-Catering Accommodation Award Category’ sponsored by Trethowans Solicitors.

Michelle Lessig, Regional Client Manager at Berendsen, Headline Sponsor of the BAPTAs, said: “We are proud to be associated with the awards, the standard of entries has been really high and impressive. We’ve had entries from all across the region including Bournemouth, Poole, Christchurch, Ferndown, Wimborne, Wareham and Swanage.”

“The awards raise the profile of tourism in Dorset across the BH post code area and that is vital for the delivery of the overall visitor experience. Congratulations to all of the semi-finalists.”

Jackie Phillipson, Founder of ROUTEpr who manages and created the BAPTAs said: “It’s fabulous to see how the tourism trade has embraced the awards. The level of enthusiasm and excitement across the entrants, sponsors and partners has been inspiring. Now that we cover the whole BH post code area the judging process has been tougher than ever. The level of effort the entrants have given to their applications, as well as providing the judges with valuable evidence, demonstrates their business growth and development and how they add value and contribute to the tourism industry.”

“The tourism awards are vital in recognising and celebrating the hard work and dedication that goes into creating this award-winning destination, and they’re also a great opportunity to network and to learn from other businesses. The gala awards evening on 15th March is a great place to network, do business and above all for the industry to celebrate their success and to have some fun!”

The winners will all be announced at a Final Gala Dinner Ceremony on 15th March 2018 at The Lighthouse in Poole. Tickets can be purchased via the website www.bapta.co.uk/tickets. For more information about the BAPTAs visit www.bapta.co.uk or contact jackie@routepr.agency.
